Website Design Projects

My web development skills began in Claris Homepage 1998 when I wrote articles for 1984 Online. I then progressed to GoLive CyberStudio. I always wanted to push my boundaries so I leapt up to Dreamweaver. Many sites were built using this great package - both for my own amusement and for other peoples' needs.

Dreamweaver required a lot of technical knowledge in addition to design skills. I decided to relinquish technical control to concentrate on design so downgraded to Freeway Pro for my Hauntedland project version 2. But even this was not as simple as I'd hoped and then I found Rapidweaver. Now I can spend more time being creative with Version 3 of Hauntedland and this website.

Gone are the days of table based html sites - CSS and other technologies have added a whole new level of design and control - my design history and various versions are below. Some sites are live (some links have expired though) and some are snapshots of the front page only.
Hauntedland version 3 - built with Rapidweaver in 2009. The desired look and feel took some work and template customisation.

Hauntedland version 2 - built using Freeway Pro in 2008 from scratch. Updating it was time consuming so it was time for a change.
Hauntedland version 1 - built using Dreamweaver in 2007 from scratch but understanding code got in the way of the design.

Cyberfire version 3 - built with Dreamweaver in 2000. I was happier with the design but it was never used to get work.

Cyberfire version 2 - built with Dreamweaver in 2000. Version 1 felt heavy and slow. I wanted to lighten the experience.

Cyberfire version 1 - built with Dreamweaver in 2000. This was my first attempt to offer my web design skills for sale.

Our Wedding - built using Dreamweaver in 2002. I wanted something simple to present the photos. Clearly the design has aged!
Lee and Tracy's Wedding
Poetry Site - built using Notepad in 2000 for a college assignment. Hand coding only allowed for this. I was quite pleased with it.

50th Birthday - built with Golive in 1999 to celebrate my mam's 50th birthday. Looks a bit naff now, but it was fun and mam liked it.

Bukit Tigapula - built with Dreamweaver in 2003 for my sister, Sam, who planned to go there for part of her University's conservation coursework.

Gary's Art - built using Dreamweaver in 2001 for my mate Gary, who was in to painting watercolours. At the time this was a good way to present his work.

TUPS Printing - built using Dreamweaver in 1999. One of my first 'professional' jobs. Thought I did well as I was still learning to use Dreamweaver at the time.
TUPS Books
Jack Grassby version 2 - built with Rapidweaver 2009. Jack's books needed a clean and simple platform to promote them all. This template was perfect.
Jack Grassby version 2
Jack Grassby version 1 - built with Dreamweaver in 2005 to create a central hub for all of the other websites that I've done for Jack to promote all of his books.
How Can We Believe Anything - built with Rapidweaver in 2009 to promote Jack's book. This was my first site made using the new software. Not too bad and learned a lot.

Postmodern Humanism - built with Dreamweaver in 2005 to promote Jack Grassby's book. Jack wanted a very plain design. I never liked this one.
Postmodern Humanism
Revolution 21 - built with Dreamweaver in 2002 for Jack Grassby. I quite liked this. Built using tables, graphics and newly discovered CSS.
Revolution in the 21st Century
Socialist's Guide - built using Dreamweaver in 2001 for Jack Grassby. Paid for work demanded more attention to quality. I wanted to hide the fact I used a table layout.
Socialists Guide for the 21st Century
Unfinished Revolution version 3 - built with Dreamweaver 2004 to give it some space to breathe. I felt my design skills had finally began to mature!
Unfinished Revolution version 3
Unfinished Revolution version 2 - built with Dreamweaver 2001 to replace the hideous previous creation. I still felt it was in need of 'something else'!
Unfinished Revolution version 2
Unfinished Revolution version 1 - built with Golive in 1999 to promote Jack Grassby's first book which I'd typeset and designed. I didn't like this web version.

Green Valley Demo 1 & 2
Green Valley were template ideas I had for Cyberfire. They could be easily customised for customers. I had a range of six.
Green Valley Demo 3 & 4
I wanted to make the navigation system interesting to what was currently 'out there' and I was quite pleased with them.
Green Valley Demo 5 & 6
Live versions of these can be found on the Cyberfire site under Templates. None were used professionally. Not surprised!
